Zane: Were-Zoo Book One Review

My Initial Thoughts

This book has been in my Kindle library for quite some time. Truthfully, I don't remember when it arrived. My aunt and I share libraries, so we can read each other's books. What initially brought me to this book was that it was a paranormal romance and it started with a "Z", which was perfect for my reading challenge. My aunt has read books from R.E. Butler before and said that they were a good author. She reads more than I do, and at a faster rate. She's finished the challenge before the end of the year already, whereas I am falling behind.
So, I started this book around May 13th, and ended up finishing it in September 11... I know... I take forever.

About the book

Zane is a gorilla shifter that lives in a zoo called "Amazing Adventures Safari Park" and each of the animals and staff are shifters that have been living in secret from humans. His life starts to get mundane and boring and his primary objective is to find a mate.
Adriana and her best friend, Celeste, both recieve an invitation and free tickets to a "VIP tour" of the zoo. As they go to it, they get seperated and Adriana is attacked by her tour guide. Her hero is a gorilla and soon she learns about shifters and her soulmate.

My Goodreads review

This book surprised me when I first read it. It was only 10 chapters, but my aunt and I agreed that it would still count towards my reading challenge. I rated this book 3 stars. I admit that my rating is a little harsh (at least to my brain it is...), but I normally steer clear of short stories like this. The reason for that is because I like world building and plot, which I admit, this book had a good one. I was pleasantly surprised by it because I was expecting it to be nothing but smut and spicy scenes. There was a full story within those 10 chapters and I was glad that I read it. The series is a long series, which is great for those that are going to continue to read the series. I may or may not pick up the rest, only time will tell. (I most likely will!)

My final thoughts

While short, I enjoyed this book. I only rated it 3 stars because I wanted more chapters. Since there are more books in the Were-Zoo series, I feel that perhaps my 3 stars is too low. It was a nice adventure and I loved the ending. It was BEYOND satisfying. If you require a quick read, I would recommend this.
